Moms of Multisport

Mums of Multisport

This Mother’s Day we honour the multitasking mums of Team INFINIT. We probably all have memories of our mums helping us learn how to ride a two-wheeler, getting up early to shuttle us to swim practice, and sitting through all-day meets and competitions. On top of all that, this group of multisport mamas absolutely crush it on their own two wheels and manage to balance a demanding training load with their busy lives. They are there for their kids’ first steps, and then go out to run 20 miles of their own. From motherhood to athletics, from work to play, this is our salute to all the mums in training.
Why Multiple Carbs?

Why Multiple Carbs?

Despite what some folks in the endurance world may try to tell you, science has proven time and time again that carbohydrate is the body’s preferred source of energy. Sure the body can operate solely off of fat and ketone bodies (when you force your body into an metabolic adaptation called "ketosis"), but it will probably feel like you're fighting an uphill battle.

The Link Between Caffeine and Athletic Performance

The Link Between Caffeine and Athletic Performance

Caffeine is one of the most commonly used drugs in the world with millions (probably billions) of people around the world drinking coffee, tea, soft drinks, energy drinks, and taking various caffeine containing supplements on a daily basis. Why do we love caffeine so much? Whether its the morning cup of Joe or the afternoon energy drink to get over the 3:00 slump, we are obsessed (or should I say addicted) to caffeine! It gets us going, keeps us awake, makes us feel good, and helps us swim/bike/run/paddle/lift/climb faster, further, and heavier than without it!
Protein for Endurance

Protein for Endurance

When it comes to protein, most people think about weight training, big muscles and "bulking-up". Do endurance athletes need protein DURING training and racing? The answer is maybe... Let's take a closer look at the ins and outs of protein for endurance athletes during training and racing.

INFINIT and The Great Spectacle in Racing

For the past 101 years brave drivers have attacked the four turns of indianapolis Motor Speedway in late May. In that time many things have become familiar pieces of the strong annual tradition of the race.

What is Beta Alanine

What is Beta Alanine

Beta-alanine is a hot topic in nutrition for exercise performance. Beta-alanine acts as a “muscle buffering agent” within the cells of muscle tissue. It is a naturally occurring amino acid that many athletes take in order to increase their muscles ability to delay fatigue and recover quicker from exercise. But how does it work?
Hydration 101: The Basics

Hydration 101: The Basics

What is the single biggest issue I see with the age groupers I work with? Let me tell you about an e-mail we received. We received a “complaint” from a customer who said he got dehydrated using his custom INFINIT formulation. First, we very rarely get complaints about the product (if ever). It just does not happen that often and it gets our attention fast. Normally it is from the customer doing too much, we see that over and over. They are drinking their product and happily munching on gels and blocks and wonder why they feel like they ate a bag of nails after 5 hours.

Coaches Corner: A Shift of Focus and Emphasis

“Cross Training,” what is it? The simple definition of cross training is, simply put, training in activities that are different than your primary sport.  Physiologically speaking, however..... “Physiological adaptations in response to physical training are highly specific to the nature of the training activity. Furthermore, the more specific the training program is to a given sport or activity, the greater the improvement in performance in that sport or activity.” - J.H. Wilmore, D.L. Costill, W.L. Kenney

Coaching Corner: Ingredients for Great Endurance

In writing November's article on endurance tips, it was hard to narrow down to just a couple of items that would be the most bang for the buck, so to speak. Therefore, I decided to continue last month's theme and expound upon a few more components for great endurance.

INFINIT 101: Importance of Electrolytes

INFINIT 101: Importance of Electrolytes

INFINIT’s exclusive blend of electrolytes is made up of four salts that match your sweat rate. This is primarily sodium, with potassium, calcium and magnesium. Our electrolytes are the most readily absorbable forms and are pharmaceutical grade. Developed by staff nutritionist Kim Brown MS, RD., this blend of these essential salts gives you everything you need for racing or training. Now there is no need to supplement with salt tablets or to juggle pills while running or riding your bike. Unlike most other products, Infinit gives you enough electrolytes to meet your personal goals. Just set the slider bar to suit you and throw the pills away!
